If you’re in charge of organising your company website and choosing the right web design company, then maybe you know exactly what you want and need. If you’re not sure what you need, then here’s what you need to know. It will help the web design company it will really help them if you have some idea of what you want. Perhaps you’ve got to use corporate branding and colours, or there’s an existing website that needs upgrading or modernising, or perhaps you’re starting with a blank slate.

In my browsing of the web sites in my directory I have come a cross many web sites that are displaying “Web Page Under Construction”.

Landing pages that establish expertise or try to build a relationship are a form of this type of home page.

If you’re paying for the designer’s time, remember that the more you change things, and want bits amending, then the more time it will take. You’ll need to decide whether you want an ecommerce or brochure site. An ecommerce site will be ideal if you want to sell your products online, whereas a brochure site will be perfect if you just want to tell people about your services, or provide information for your visitors.

Build a List Landing pages that have the sole purpose of building a list are often called squeeze pages. Basically a visitor to such a web page either provides their name and email address in return for an opt-in bonus… or they leave. This type of web page has an opt-in box as its focal point. Any and all text is there to convince the visitor to enter their name and email address in the form provided.

Whilst you might know a bit about websites, you won’t want to get carried away. Will social media or videos, or having an online game be appropriate for your target audience? Now you know more about web design, and how you can make sure you get it right first time, perhaps now is the time to ensure that you have the right web design.

So you want to become a webmaster? Webmastering is a complex job with more to it that one would expect. There are many different skill sets which are required to run a successful website, from writing content to designing graphics, or marketing the content on your website.

When I first found Erik Stafford’s Faster Webmaster program, I was quite skeptical. What, me do all this by myself? But then I took a closer look… His ad said that a grandmother learned how to do it in no time flat, and so I figured that if she could do it, maybe I could too. The ad worked just the way it was supposed to. And as it turned out, the program it sold did too. It really delivered the goods.

The first important point about this is that you will see that your site might be found or ranked for a search term that you had not targeted. This affords you the opportunity to provide content based around that particular term, which will obviously be mentioned somewhere on your site but not focussed on, to boost your rankings and rank for that particular key phrase.

It is incredible to study this table and see phrases or keywords on your site which were written naturally into a post or page and to see them ranking in the top 20 in Google. Now the trick to which I referred above is as follows: Click on the “more” link at the bottom of this “top searches queries” table and this will expand the list to maybe 20 key words.

Scan through this list and see what phrases are ranking on page 2 of Google, in other words are top 20, and then check out the number of searches for that keyword. Make sure that there is a decent number of searches for that phrase but once you are satisfied that there is, write a post/page based around that key phrase and write some articles targeting that post.

There are also numerous websites dedicated to helping newbies run their own website, this includes Google’s webmaster tools. Important thing to remember is you don’t have to know everything to become a webmaster, but one thing is guaranteed is you will learn and continue to learn new things everyday in your journey as a Webmaster/Marketer/ Internet Entrepreneur.
